Betty Ellen Moreland

Betty Ellen Hoover Stewart Moreland, 83, of Millersburg, died Sunday morning, Nov. 2, 2008, at Sycamore Run Nursing Home, Millersburg, after an extended illness.

Services will be Thursday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Todd Hartley officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Township Cemetery, Holmesville.

Friends may call Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests contributions be made to Cystic Fibrosis, 1 Perkins Square, Akron; or Alzheimer's Foundation.

Betty was born Jan. 2, 1925, in Middlebranch, the daughter of John Leroy and Margaret Jane (Minor) Hoover, and married James S. Moreland on May 20, 1948. He died July 23, 1996.

She was a member of Holmesville United Methodist Church.

Surviving are children, Dennis (Carole) Stewart of Texas, Tim (Brenda) Anderson of Florida, Lois (Russ) Murphy of Nashville, Carol (Harry) Mercer of Coshocton, Betty (Anthony) DeMonaco of Florida, Rita (Gary) Jensen of Holmesville, Beverly Brink and friend, Allen Ward of Clark, Barbara Moreland and friend, Don Alexander of Wooster, Bonnie (David) Ackerman of Shreve and Margaret (Joseph) McKenna of Millersburg; stepchildren, Joan (Wendell) Clark of Wooster, Robert Moreland of Wooster and Phyllis (Monroe) Weaver of Holmesville; 37 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; and step-great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Martin of Canton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph and John Hoover; a sister Ruth Myers; a stepson, Norman Moreland; and grandchildren, Doyle Weaver, Laura King and Joshua Barnes.ggrandson Zachary Warren Sinnett. and her first husband Gerald Stewart.
